Nazli Sabri (Arabic: نزلي صبري / نازلى صبرى) (June 25, 1894 - May 29, 1978), was the Queen consort of Egypt, (May 26, 1919 - April 28, 1936) as the second wife of King Fuad. Queen mother of Egypt (1936-1950). She was the daughter of HE, Abdu'r-Rahim Pasha Sabri, Minister of Agriculture and Governor of Cairo, by his wife, Tawfika Khanum Sharif. Queen Nazli also was the maternal granddaughter of Major-General HE Muhammad Sharif Pasha, Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs. She was also a great-grand-daughter of Suleiman Pasha. She had five childern: a son, Farouk, the later king of Egypt and Sudan, and four daughters: Fawzia married later to Shah of Iran, Fayza, Fayqa and Fatheya. Quen Nazli left Egypt around 1947 with princesses Fayka and Fathia to tour the USA. Accompying the royals were two Egypitian young employees, one of them being the christian Reyad Ghali, in whom the then teenage Fatheya fell in love. When the news reached Egypt, it trrigered the largest public anger,,,,,,for how would the muslim princess get married to the Christian man? King Farouk urged his mother and two sisters to go back to Egypt, even attempted to convince Reyad Ghali to adopt Islam to marry the little princess. It was only Fayqa who was convinced and went back to Egypt with the other Egyptian employee, in whom she too fell in love, the king was happy to acknowldge thier marraige.
